Real Life Drawing Club

Join us Sunday, January 19 from 2-4pm in the main gallery at 215 N Limestone for the second iteration of Real Life Drawing, an outgrowth and expansion of the Lexington Still Life Club.

Rather than traditional life drawing classes in which a model is drawn in poses rather removed from any particular purpose, Real Life Drawing will feature a live model each month demonstrating a specific skill they carry in their body. As they take us through various actions required to carry out their labor, we’ll explore together how to depict the body as it relates to its environment and its desires. For this second session, our model is “The Bike Mechanic” - poses might demonstrate activities such as aligning wheels, adjusting shifters, changing bike cables, and more.

As always, we’ll have drawing benches, chairs, music and drinks. Bring your favorite supplies and practice your skills in the welcoming company of a community of fellow artists. All ages and skill levels are welcome. This event is free, but a $5 donation for the model is welcomed.
